The demanding careers of professional ballet dancers, athletes, or individuals engaged in intense physical or mental activities come with many physical and mental stressors. The rigorous training, constant rehearsals or practices, and the pressure to maintain peak performance levels can lead to heightened stress, potential injuries, and emotional strain. Ayurveda offers a comprehensive approach to supporting, healing, and preventing these stressors in the lives of ballet dancers, athletes, and high-stress professionals.
Dravyaguna Vijnyana (which deals comprehensively with the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of herbs) and Bhaishaja Kalpana-Vijnyana (Ayurvedic pharmaceutical science) guide the therapeutic applications of medicinal herbs and the delicate art of formulating them into practical, custom remedies for each individual being treated. These disciplines lay the foundation for Ayurvedic Pharmacology, where herbs undergo meticulous curation and transformation to enhance their innate medicinal qualities.
The products we offer at Healing Heart Ayurveda are sourced from the lush landscapes of Kerala, India, by the highly esteemed Kerala Ayurveda Company. These herbs are prepared authentically following ancient classical texts and organic principles. They are derived from the pristine landscapes of Kerala, often called ‘God’s Own Country.’
Authentic Yoga, rooted in the ancient traditions of India, goes well beyond the physical postures commonly associated with it in the Western world. It is as much philosophical and spiritual as it is physical. Authentic Yoga incorporates the profound philosophy of the “Eight Limbs of Yoga,” as outlined by Sage Patanjali in the Yoga Sutras. These Limbs act as guidelines for living a meaningful and purposeful life; they offer a comprehensive guide to a life-transformative yogic journey.
Nothing is more important to parents than their children; it all begins when they decide to conceive. The foundation for conceiving and delivering healthy progeny in Ayurveda rests on several essential pillars, including ensuring a healthy ovum, robust sperm, correct timing, and a conducive environment for the growth of an embryo. Notably, the balanced mind and emotions of the mother play a crucial role. Ayurveda comprehensively addresses these aspects by preparing the mother for conception and administering Panchakarma treatments (a purification process of several weeks) to both the mother and father.
When I found out I was pregnant with my first child, I thought: “I’d like someone to guide me through this to ensure my baby is born healthy and well.” I turned to Ayurvedic Practitioner Nancy Raffa, whom I had met in India on my honeymoon trip to Kerala. She was in the Health Village we visited, completing an internship for her Ayurvedic Doctor program. As a result of her attentive, caring approach and Ayurvedic insights and recommendations. my pregnancy was better than I could have imagined: no morning sickness, emotionally calm, physically healthy.
Baby Laila was born happy and healthy, and my doctors have been shocked at how quickly I’ve healed postpartum. They’re also surprised at how well our breastfed baby has gained weight due to Nancy’s dietary recommendations. It’s all thanks to Nancy and Ayurveda. What I love most is that she gives recommendations to help you physically heal, as well as mentally. She connected me with Guru Rajeev for private prenatal classes including yoga asana, breathwork and meditation. She also gave me exercise recommendations that helped me through my entire pregnancy. I learned so much with her, she met my concerns with calm rationality. Everyone that meets our baby says she looks so well fed and asks if she’s always this calm and peaceful!

I was suffering from mild OCD, anxiety, and unusual bleeding that I had erroneously attributed to menopause. Seeking a natural remedy, I stumbled upon Ayurvedic Practitioner Nancy Raffa via Meta (Facebook). Nancy’s support with the OCD challenges allowed me to address the bleeding issues as I became more grounded, stable and less fearful. The diet and herbs she suggested along with practices such as daily oil massages and the use of Brahmi Oil helped my anxiety. Despite consultations and examinations via Western, traditional medicine, my bleeding remained an issue. It was only after Nancy suggested I attempt more rigorous attention to the issue that I was diagnosed with cervical cancer. She also supported me with herbs that helped me heal a pelvic floor prolapse. Nancy’s great expertise is surpassed only by her immeasurable kindness, which guided and helped me through diagnosis and recovery of what could have otherwise been a fatal disease.
Ayurveda and what Nancy has taught me not only most likely saved my life but is restoring it to a quality of self-care and well- being that I did not have before. I recommend Nancy Raffa to anyone and everyone who is seeking healing of mind, body and or Spirit.

I was suffering from a variety of chronic and recent health problems, including lightheadedness, anxiety, OCD, headaches and joint pain. I have known Nancy Raffa since she was the darling of the ballet world – first American female to win a Gold Medal at the prestigious annual Lausanne competitions – and had become aware that she was nearly fully certified as an Ayurvedic Doctor. I asked her to assess me and help me heal.
Nancy taught me to make lifestyle changes with Ayurvedic herbs , diet and relaxation techniques. Her wisdom and care has helped me to get off of the medications that were causing unhealthy side effects and damage to my body. Thanks to Nancy, I have learned how to relax more and have implemented lifestyle and diet changes that have really helped me without and in spite of Western medicine intervention.
In the past, I never had any medical doctor take the time to really listen to me and to take the time to understand me as an individual with my individual needs and that is something Nancy does as an Advanced Ayurvedic practitioner, and I am forever grateful for her!
